Drew McIntyre remains one of the top Superstars in WWE and certainly has a lot of passion for the pro wrestling business. He is a former two-time WWE Champion and was the face of the company during the pandemic era as the WWE Champion.
Drew McIntyre was released from WWE back in 2014 and made a name for himself in the independent circuit before returning to the company in 2017.
For the past few months WWE has been releasing several employees including Superstars and this has shocked fans and pro wrestlers alike.
While speaking to the International Business Times, Drew McIntyre talked about the recent slew of WWE releases. McIntyre stated that he sees the releases as a huge opportunity and added that the released WWE Superstars can do exactly the same as him and eventually return to the company.
It is a huge opportunity. That’s the way I look at it. Perhaps some of the superstars that were released weren’t particularly happy with their position. Now, they have an opportunity to go out there and reinvent themselves and the world’s opening back up.
I was so fortunate that when I was released from the WWE, that’s exactly what my mindset was–I’m gonna put the image out that I see myself as, as opposed to what others see me as. Thankfully, it caught on. I was given a lot of opportunities outside of WWE to make my name and it brought me back to WWE and to the top of the mountain.
There are so many talented individuals that just got released. They can do exactly the same [as I did]. If they’ve got the work ethic and the passion, they’re gonna make it happen and I’ll see them all again one day.
While released WWE Superstars such as Samoa Joe made his return to the company, others such as Andrade El Idolo and Aleister Black made their way to AEW. We wonder if more of the released Superstars will return to the company eventually.
