The NBA Finals are set and the Bucks vs Suns will be a big series for those fans. This will not change the viewing habits of WWE fans because the Finals are skipping Mondays, and Fridays this time around. The only show that is set to get his is Impact Wrestling.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer broke down the projected seven-game series for the NBA Finals. WWE RAW is “home free” when it comes to that big basketball competition, but AEW Dynamite’s July 14th show will have stiff competition with Game 4.
“It looks like Game 1 [of the NBA Finals] will be on Tuesday, so that’s against NXT. If RAW isn’t up a lot, that is not good. It should be up a lot. AEW’s clean too, the next game is Thursday against Impact. Then the third game is Sunday which goes against the Ring of Honor pay-per-view. Then Game 4 is the 14th which goes against the sell-out AEW Dynamite show. Game 5, if needed, would be on Saturday July 17th, game 6 would be on the 20th which would be another Tuesday and then if Game 7 is needed would be July 22nd which would be a Thursday. So, RAW is home free, at least until the Olympics.”
We’ll have to see how many games the Bucks and Suns will go. There are obviously going to be people who will say “Suns in 4,” but the Bucks will try very hard to make sure that doesn’t happen.
The NBA Playoffs certainly changed AEW programming for the last month, but it looks like they only have one date to worry about with the NBA Finals. Now we will have to wait until the Olympics to see how that busy block of sporting events changes things around.
