Roman Reigns is the Head of the Table in WWE and he will not acknowledge anyone as #1 over him, but there is a strong #2. The Tribal Chief is still WWE Universal Champion as he heads toward Edge at Money in the Bank, but if he had his wishes that torch would be passed to Drew McIntyre.
While speaking to Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, Roman Reigns was asked about who is directly under him in WWE. Reigns said that we could list #2 and #3 all day, but he’s still the top dog in WWE, no matter which brand you’re discussing.
Drew McIntyre had an impressive run as WWE Champion during the ThunderDome days, knocking off Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 in front of zero live fans. He carried that title through the ThunderDome until Bobby Lashley was able to topple him, and the All Mighty remains WWE Champion.
If given his preference, Roman Reigns said that he would pass the torch to Drew McIntyre.
“I could say my favorite #2, Drew. He’s my favorite #2, 3’s whatever you wanna call them. We can rank them. It really don’t matter, they’re under me. How far under? Who really knows? Who really cares at this point? I mean how strong of a #2 do you wanna be at this point, and right now my favorite is Drew McIntyre.”
“So, in a perfect world if there was an opportunity to pass the torch to him, he’s the one guy I think that has captivated my attention in that manner, but at the same time he ain’t there and it’s only because I’m still here and so solid within my foothold, my stronghold. So, the flag is firmly planted in, so I can’t even think about it now, but I mean in order to you know John [Cena] needed someone to come in so he could go on and do other things and take care of his body, I will eventually need that, but there’s just nobody at this point.”
We’ll have to see what happens next for Roman Reigns. A rumored match against The Rock is always a possibility and the Great One could come back as early as Survivor Series. Then again, WWE will take The Rock whenever he can work it into his busy schedule.
