Roman Reigns is the current WWE Universal Champion and is one of the top Superstars in the company right now. His tremendous character work has won over fans and pro wrestlers alike.
Roman Reigns’ reinvention as a heel has truly shown just how good he can be both as an in-ring performer and character. It came after several years of being forced onto fans as a babyface.
While speaking on his Hall Of Fame podcast, Booker T talked about Roman Reigns’ dominant run as the WWE Universal Champion. Booker T then added that he believes Reigns simply doesn’t have enough contenders.
“There aren’t a whole lot of contenders out there. I look at this like a boxing match, a boxing division. Who’s in the division? Who do I got to, you know, look at and say, ‘Man, that’s my next guy right there.’ Back in the day, Hogan had Orndorff, The Barbarian, Bundy, Andre the Giant, Big John Studd – he had a bunch of contenders, a bunch of stars. That’s what I say right there. Where are the contenders? And if there are some, who are they?”
Since winning the title Roman Reigns has beaten the likes of Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro and Rey Mysterio. He is set to defend his WWE Universal Championship against Edge at the WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view on July 18. We will have to see if Reigns will carry on as the champion after that.
