WWE released quite a few Superstars yesterday and many of them came from 205 Live. This was not the plan for the purple brand as they were actually set to receive a new focus.

We previously reported that KUSHIDA and the Cruiserweight Division is set to get a focus. This might have changed a bit with those recent releases. Triple H was not expecting for Nick Khan to call for them to gut 205 Live as they did.

Sean Sapp commented on this situation in the midst of the releases and confirmed that that yesterday’s firings were not a part of their plans at all.

I can tell you that gutting 205 Live was not one of the plans NXT had to further emphasize the Cruiserweight division

It was previously noted that WWE wants younger and stronger guys. This could have helped them narrow down who to release. We’ll have to see what is next for everyone who was cut this week. Hopefully, they won’t have any trouble finding new work.
