Nick Khan pulled for WWE to cut more members from their roster yesterday. By the end of the day over a dozen NXT and 205 Live stars were fired. Nick Khan also made it clear that he has no problem taking the blame for this decision.
It is unclear if WWE is gearing up for a sale. Trimming their bottom line would certainly point toward that possibility. During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed Nick Khan’s decision making process a bit and explained what his motivations likely are.
“This Nick Khan stuff, and I mean, I’m sure it was probably Nick Khan for whatever reason an his job is to maximize profits whether it’s to sell the company and make it look good for a sale or make it look good for the stock market, or whatever it is. It’s his job. He’s the one engineering letting go of the stockpiling which the company did for so long. Now they are not doing it. They are getting rid of the people they don’t need or they’ve used up so they aren’t necessarily even that valuable on the outside.”
There are many recently released stars who could benefit other companies. We’ll have to see what’s next for everyone who lost their jobs this week, but the company is certainly changing a lot and they needed to trim more people off their bottom line.
What’s your take of WWE releasing so many Superstars? Are they gearing up for a sale? Sound off in the comments!
