Edge received a tremendous babyface reaction from the Raymond James Stadium crowd at WrestleMania, one of the loudest of the night. He returned as a babyface and set his sights right on The Tribal Chief. This caused a huge stir online because the Rated R Superstar’s surprise return on SmackDown came eariler than expected.

Ringside News asked around about Edge’s return and we were told that this was not a last-minute decision. We were told that this has been the plan for a while now.

We were additionally told that Edge vs Seth Rollins is still the working plan for SummerSlam. Edge simply returned with a big surprise before Money in the Bank in a move that fans were not expecting. Roman Reigns will reportedly be busy at SummerSlam as he faces John Cena.

Edged signed a massive deal in 2020 to return for limited dates, including dates and television appearances. He also just returned from an injury that cost him a majority of 2020 out of action.

It was reported at the time that Edge’s deal was for $3 million a year, and he will be paid in full as long as he wrestles at least three times per year. He’s also scheduled to make 25 more appearances on WWE television. Obviously, some of those dates will be used to break in live crowds. We have since learned that he is contracted to wrestle far more time than just three.

Edge vs Roman Reigns was confirmed for Money in the Bank. Even after that big July event, Edge is still not likely going away for a bit. It is unclear how many live television events Edge will make along the way, but it appears that he will wrestle on the next two pay-per-view events.
