Pat McAfee took part in some great angles for the black and gold brand, but then it seems that he was called up to the WWE main roster from NXT. Now the SmackDown commentator appears on Fox each week alongside Michael Cole, but he’s not working any programs in NXT. That time is seemingly over for the former NFL punter.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer quickly touched on the former Kings of NXT stable which featured McAfee leading Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan, and Danny Burch. Following Burch’s injury, he and Lorcan had to relinquish the NXT Tag Team Titles, but then McAfee never returned either. It seems that their stable is not 100% splintered because Dunne and Lorcan just teamed up this week on NXT, but McAfee’s time in developmental is likely over.

“They had three [members], and then they had McAfee, but I guess he’s never coming back.”

Pat McAfee can still throw shade at Adam Cole, but it’s from the main roster now. We’ll have to see if those two re-spark their old rivalry, but brand lines currently separate the old foes. We might even see Pat McAfee wrestle on the WWE main roster, especially if Vince McMahon gets a chance to watch any of his previous outings in NXT.
