WWE planned for a Universal Title match at Hell in a Cell, but everything in WWE is subject to change. The Roman Reigns vs Rey Mysterio match will happen on SmackDown now instead, totally changing up the previous plans.

The company thought about replacing the Hell in a Cell match this Sunday. We’re not sure what the final plan will be, because Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn was in the cards for a HIAC match, but that was changed as well.

According to Fightful Select, Roman Reigns and Rey Mysterio’s Hell in a Cell match will not have any frills. They plan to have a straight-forward match, one without a false finish that could build toward the pay-per-view.

As of Friday morning, we were told and confirmed by WWE staff that Reigns vs. Mysterio was meant to be straight up, no frills, no goofy finish, and was not  scheduled to be “run back” at Hell in a Cell.

There is no plan for Roman Reigns to wrestle this Sunday at this time. A lot of fans commented to say that they won’t need to watch Hell in a Cell if the Tribal Chief isn’t wrestling. Perhaps that same idea will work in reverse and encourage a ton of fans to tune in and see a Hell in a Cell match live on Fox.

What do you think WWE’s master plan is at this point? Sound off in the comments!
