AEW made a big announcement this week when then revealed that the company is coming the New York in September. This will be a huge event inside a venue that has never hosted a pro wrestling show before. They could also fit a lot of fans in that tennis stadium, but some are doubtful.
All Elite Wrestling owes much of its existence to a bet. Dave Meltzer took a $1 bet that an indie company couldn’t sell out a 10,000 seat building. The Sears Centre eventually sold out in record time for All In. That was the real spark that put AEW in motion.
Cody Rhodes saw a fan who said “good luck getting that many people in attendance.” He had a very short, yet appropriate, reply for this doubting fan that also drew on AEW’s own history.
I’ve been told this before.
We’ll have to see how quickly those New York tickets sell out for AEW. The company could see scalpers jump on their box office, but that would still sell the tickets even if real fans don’t get their hands on them.
If anything, AEW’s New York debut is generating a ton of excitement, especially for those on the roster like Eddie Kingston.
