Roman Reigns is the current WWE Universal Champion and is one of the top Superstars in the company right now. He has proven himself to be an excellent champion with great character work and in-ring skills.

This all started after Roman Reigns turned heel last year at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view. Since then Roman Reigns is on his best run yet. This was a long time coming as Reigns was continuously pushed as a babyface for years; and fans rejected him for that.

While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, John Cena talked about WWE Superstars performing without crowds. He stated that the lack of crowds ultimately helped Roman Reigns develop his personality.

“I also think this time has allowed performers like Roman Reigns to unobstructively mold his character. If you send him from city-to-city, there may be some audiences that don’t care what he has to say, and just want to boo or cheer him. But without that [obstruction], Reigns has absolutely needed this time, and in it, he has developed his personality, his character.

“Reigns has found out who he is. So, now, when he goes back to live audiences, they are not confused. He spent this 15-month block to define who he is. And he’s the one who could benefit the most from it. On the other hand, established performers like myself would have had a difficult time with no audiences.”

It was previously reported that Vince McMahon wants to protect Roman Reigns at all costs and that is exactly what will happen. We will have to see if Roman Reigns and John Cena face off against each other at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view this year.
