WWE NXT Had No Plan For Ted DiBiase When Starting Cameron Grimes Story

Cameron Grimes and LA Knight had a barnburner of a ladder match at NXT TakeOver: In Your House. The two put each other through a lot of punishment as they battled for the Million Dollar Title. This storyline came together in time and certainly became something larger than they first intended.

During the post TakeOver conference call, HBK revealed that Cameron Grimes started his rich man gimmick and threw in jokes about the Million Dollar Man. After he referenced Ted DiBiase a few times, they finally pitched the idea to just call the WWE Hall of Famer. It turns out that he was more than happy to come in.

They had no intention to bring DiBiase into the storyline when it first started. Michaels also made a comment about how much larger the angle became as time went on, even to include the Million Dollar Title.

Shawn Michaels also spoke about telling Cameron Grimes and LA Knight that they would be competing for the Million Dollar Title. They were both “blown away.” Each also had their own stories through childhood about the Million Dollar Title. Triple H also commented to say that both Knight and Grimes had to turn away and collect themselves after seeing the Million Dollar Title for the first time.

Both Cameron Grimes and LA Knight brought it all to NXT TakeOver: In Your House. Their Million Dollar Ladder Match was certainly one that they were passionate about.
