Lio Rush announced that he is retiring from professional wrestling. This was a shocking announcement because fans were hoping to see more of him in AEW. He is still under NJPW contract, but he did appear at Double or Nothing, the event where he suffered his career-ending injury.

Some people were behind Lio Rush’s decision to quit and they understood. Others were not as supportive. Greg Hamilton was not a fan of this public announcement at all.

The WWE SmackDown ring announcer sent out a tweet that he has since deleted. In that tweet, Hamilton expressed anger at Lio Rush for retiring the way he did.

Wow…..unreal…..if we all didn’t have our own lives and families to take care of I just might pretend I give a [cursing emoji] . (On behalf of the wrestling family and community who work for a living) On to the gym. [eye-rolling emoji]

Hamilton has since deleted the tweet, so it’s unknown if he had a change of heart. He obviously didn’t 100% stand behind Lio Rush’s decision, at the time, to call it quits. Greg Hamilton’s suggestion was to carry on.

When one fan asked Greg Hamilton where his tweet about Lio Rush went, he responded to say: “You tell me.”

We’ll have to see what’s next for Lio Rush. He has other options and a budding career in music that he could certainly focus more energy on. In the meantime, Lio Rush will continue doing his own thing because that has been a trend that won’t stop no matter what industry he’s in.
