WWE made six big cuts to the roster this week and plenty of fans are still talking about how Vince McMahon could be setting WWE up to put on sale. This was a surprise for many, including the roster. The company also decided to inform the roster about these cuts in a much different way.
Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Ruby Riott, Buddy Murphy, and Santana Garrett were all cut today. Some of those people wanted to leave the company. It is not 100% clear at this point who wanted to leave, but Buddy Murphy did seem very happy about starting his next adventure.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE Superstars were informed about the cuts in a much different way this time. All of the talent got a text message this time about the cuts.
“You know what’s also interesting is that usually when they cut people, they cut people, but you know this time they sent a text message to all the talent informing them of these cuts? No, not the released talent. There was a mass text from John Laurinaitis informing them of the six people cut which they’ve never done before. As far as I know, that’s never been done before.”
It was noted that this might have been done to “send a message.” That message was heard loud and clear, because six people lost their jobs with WWE yesterday. They join the over 80 people that WWE has cut in the last month across the entire company.
Are you shocked by the WWE releases this week? Is Vince McMahon preparing to sell the company? Sound off in the comments!
