Former UFC commentator Jimmy Smith made his commentary debut on Monday Night RAW this week. He took over from Adnan Virk who parted ways with WWE last week.

Jimmy Smith joined the booth as the play-by-play commentator for one of WWE’s flagship TV shows. He received positive reviews from fans, critics, and people in the company for his incredible work and energy.

While speaking with David LaGreca and Bully Ray on Busted Open Radio, Jimmy Smith opened up on the pieces of advice he received from multiple people in WWE.

“But a big part of it was, they said, ‘You have energy. Just have energy,” said Smith. “Just tell people they should be excited to be here and be excited to be seeing what you’re seeing.’ That was the advice from like four different people was, ‘Hey, you can F this up, you can F that up.You can F up people’s names.”

“Have energy during the match’ and I went, ‘No problem, that’s what I’ve been doing for a long time’ so that was really the preparation is like, you know, if you don’t care, fans aren’t gonna care and I was able during the match — especially during the Kofi Kingston/Drew McIntyre [match], that was incredible. My energy level was through the roof the whole time, so as long as I have that, I felt good but that was the major advice I was given, you know?”

Jimmy Smith was undoubtedly a great addition to the commentary team. Many fans took to social media to give him the thumbs up. Smith also shared that former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston received medical attention during his match with Drew McIntyre on RAW.
