WWE Superstar Jinder Mahal has received mixed responses since his debut in the company back in 2011. He won the WWE Championship back in 2017, but has not done anything noteworthy since then.
Unfortunately for Jinder Mahal, he has been plagued with multiple injuries that have plagued his career for the past couple of years. In July 2019, Mahal underwent surgery to repair a ruptured patella tendon.
After making his return in April 2020, it seemed as if he was going to challenge Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship. However, Mahal suffered a setback yet again as he required another knee injury which put him on the shelf until January 2021.
While speaking to Dr. Beau Hightower, Jinder Mahal discussed the extent of his injuries, revealing that Mahal suffered a microfracture of the femur while his knee was still swelled up. This led to an unexpected second surgery which took him out of action for a longer time.
“So I showed the WWE doctor it’s swollen. He’s like, ‘Oh, we’ll drain it.’ I’ve got my knees drained before, so he drains it. He’s like, ‘Alright, stand up, should be good.’ I went to stand up and my knee locked. I was like, ‘Oh no.’ When all the swelling was there, I didn’t notice it but I had a torn piece of articular cartilage, so then I had to have surgery again. For that surgery, a microfracture of the femur, so then that was a really long recovery again. And here we are. So that was another nine, 10 months.”
Jinder Mahal made his in-ring return in a six-man tag team match at WWE Superstar Spectacle in January 2021. After that, Mahal finally returned to Monday Night RAW on the May 10 episode and currently has Veer and Shanky as part of his new faction. Since then he hasn’t made an appearance on Monday Night RAW and we will have to see if the company has anything planned for Mahal now that he is back for good.
