AEW presented Double or Nothing and the TNT Title match included one attention-grabbing spot. Jake “The Snake” Roberts came out to the ring holding a bag, presumably with a snake inside. Miro didn’t have time for that snake so he chucked it onto the stage.
While fielding some questions after the pay-per-view, Tony Khan was asked if PETA has been in contact with him yet. One person wanted to know if they were upset at Miro throwing Jake Roberts’ snake across the stage during the TNT Title match.
“There was no snake, we would never hurt a snake,” Tony Khan said during the media scrum after Double or Nothing.
Tony Khan then said that PETA shouldn’t be upset with them after asking “did you see a snake?” There was no snake, so any animal rights groups should back down from this one. It doesn’t mean that there haven’t been snakes used in pro wrestling before, but there was no real snake used in that match.
Miro was able to defeat Lance Archer by submission and retain his TNT Title. He also did a number on Jake Roberts, but there was no living thing in that bag that he sent for a ride.
