Pro wrestling legend Sting shocked the world when he made his debut in AEW last year in December. Since then he has been featured heavily on AEW television being paired up with Darby Allin.

Sting’s first match in AEW featured him teaming up with Darby Allin and facing off against Ricky Stars and Brian Cage at AEW Revolution in a cinematic street fight match. During the buildup for that match, Cage hit Sting with a brutal powerbomb and it seems Sting still hasn’t properly recovered from that.

While speaking to Paste Magazine, Sting talked about his preparation for his match at Double Or Nothing. Sting revealed that he isn’t recovering as well as Sting used to and is still feeling the effects of Cage’s powerbomb from February.

“I’m trying to work a lot on mobility, that’s for sure. I don’t recover as quick as I used to, either, so I have to really watch how I train, so I don’t overtrain because, I’m telling you, you just don’t recover the same. I’m still feeling the effects of the powerbomb that I took from Brian Cage [in February 2021]. There are a few kinks I still have from that one.

Otherwise, I’m preparing the same. It’s the same kind of stuff, I just have to think about when I do it and what intensity levels and all that. I’m trying to get the heart rate up as much as I possibly can, so the stamina’s there to go with these young guys. Yeah, I’m getting ready — I am ready.”

Sting and Darby Allin are set to square off against Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page at AEW Double Or Nothing this Sunday. It will mark Sting’s first proper in-ring match since 2015. We will have to see how he will perform in the match.
