Britt Baker’s story to the AEW Women’s World Title was a long one. She was the first women signed to AEW and made her official debut during the press conference where the company was revealed.

AEW’s resident dentist’s big title win was the first title change at Double or Nothing. She received a huge amount of support from the Daily’s Place crowd as they chanted “DMD” at her while she tried to shut Hikaru Shida down. That was a very hard task to accomplish.

At one point, Rebel accidentally hit Baker with her crutch, but Britt kicked out of a roll-up pinfall. Then the referee ejected Rebel from ringside as Baker nailed Shida with the title and then curb stomped her on it for good measure, but Shida kicked out.

Finally, Britt Baker got on a lockjaw and Shida submitted to crown a new AEW Women’s Champion. Shida held that title for over a year. Following the match, Tony Schiavone left the announce booth to congratulate his friend with a hug.

Baker’s babyface beginnings didn’t work out, and then she started her heel turn thanks to calling Tony Schiavone a “sh*tty barista.” Now she is AEW Women’s World Champion.
