WWE is reportedly talking to NJPW about becoming their exclusive partner in North America. That deal has not been finalized and we have no idea how far along talks are. We only know that the two sides have been talking.
The rumor was that Daniel Bryan was the crux of those talks. The general idea is that Bryan wants to wrestle in NJPW and WWE wanted to make that happen. That remains to be seen because Bryan Danielson’s WWE contract expired and he is no longer with the company.
Prior to Dynamite tonight, Tony Khan, The Forbidden Door himself, addressed the rumor about WWE talking to NJPW. He had a very interesting way of putting things.
“I read in the Observer today that New Japan is in talks with WWE’s President Nick Khan. Well, Nick I have to saw that if you’ve been talking to New Japan Wrestling for two months then you’ve gotten a lot done.”
Khan then bragged about having many NJPW stars on AEW in the last couple of weeks. He also brought up how Jon Moxley successfully defended the IWGP United States Title on Dynamite. Then he proceeded to drag WWE President Nick Khan in a big way.
“I have future plans for the US Title, so you’ve really gotten a lot done in the last two months, Nick. In fact, I think there’s only room for one Khan in the wrestling business. It’s me, it’s Tony Khan, it’s not some con-man from Connecticut. Have a fun show tonight, Nick. See you on Dynamite.”
We’ll have to see what happens between those two Khans. They are not related, but Tony Khan obviously feels some sort of way about Nick Khan’s recent actions over in WWE.
What do you think about what Tony Khan had to say? Sound off in the comments!
