Mick Foley Speaks Out Against WWE Releasing Tom Phillips

Tom Phillips was released from WWE today, but the company has yet to confirm it. There could be more surprising releases on the way, but we will have to stay tuned. Mick Foley certainly isn’t happy about this latest development.

Foley watches WWE programming and he also understands how hard it is to sit at the announce desk. That was never his full-time assignment, but he has donned the headset a time or two.

Tom Phillips’ WWE release surprised a lot of people. When Foley heard the news he had to speak out and voice his own shock at WWE’s decision to cut such a good announcer.

I’m surprised to see that WWE let Tom Phillips let go.

I always enjoyed his announcing, and thought his chemistry with his fellow commentators was professional, informative and entertaining. Announcing in @WWE is not easy, and he did it very well.

Tom Phillips is 32-years-old which is not old by any stretch of the imagination. We’ll have to see how Jimmy Smith does in his role as RAW’s play-by-play announcer, but Tom Phillips did that job for a year and many fans were hoping to see him return. Now that isn’t happening.
