WWE is often accused of not listening to their fans, but that changed with Natalya and Tamina Snuka’s Women’s Tag Team Title win. This was something the company decided to do at WrestleMania even before Nattie and Tamina lost their first shot.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed Tamina and Natalya’s latest push. He revealed the call was made after WrestleMania to continue their push because of the reception the team received from those live fans at Raymond James Stadium.
“Tamina’s push came from the fans started chanting her name at WrestleMania on the two nights when you actually had fans and [WWE] went with it because, you know whatever it was that was one of the stores at WrestleMania. It was like, hey whatever the reason it was cult or irony or whatever it was, the crowd got behind them and the decision was made. Often times we go ‘oh they don’t listen to their fans,’ this time they did.”
Natalya and Tamina did not win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania. They chased those titles until the go-home episode of SmackDown before the next pay-per-view and won them there.
We’ll have to see what’s next for Tamina and Natalya, but winning those titles was a very special moment already. You can click here to watch Tamina’s emotional response to getting her own name plate on those titles.
