Bayley worked hard during the pandemic in a top spot on the SmackDown roster. Then when WrestleMania came around she was not booked for a match. She certainly noticed and it hurt to see others get that spot. Still, it only intensified the drive within her.
The former SmackDown Women’s Champion did show up during both nights of WrestleMania 37. She teased hosting a Ding Dong Hello segment that many hoped would open the door for Becky Lynch’s return. That didn’t happen either.
The Bella Twins got a shot on Bayley and she took a tumble down the ramp instead. That was her contribution to WrestleMania this year. While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Bayley opened up about how it felt to not get booked on the show of shows.
“I could feel it from the very beginning. The fans were ready to see Sasha finally live out her dream, and they were ready to see Bianca deliver. Within the first minute, I knew it was magical.”
“That’s the pinnacle, what you work your whole life for, I worked that whole year during the pandemic to get to WrestleMania in front of fans, and then I still didn’t have that. I didn’t have that moment, I didn’t have that match so that only makes my desire stronger.
“I was the last one to come to Raw and SmackDown between the Four Horsewomen, and I can be the last one to main-event a WrestleMania.”
We’ll have to see if Bayley gets that one big moment with the 4 Horsewomen in a WWE ring. It is possible, but Becky Lynch would need to return first.
Bayley was featured on WrestleMania more than others who weren’t booked in a match, but she would have still loved to have been given the chance to perform in front of live fans. Now that WWE is aiming to bring back fans in July she will hopefully get that opportunity again soon.
