Eric Bischoff is a veteran in the pro wrestling business and is undoubtedly one of the greatest minds to have ever worked in it. He is well aware of the changing landscape of pro wrestling as well.
While speaking on the 83 Weeks Podcast, Eric Bischoff talked about AEW’s current product. Bischoff stated that AEW caters to the smallest but loudest segment of fans. Bischoff added that it has a little too much of an indie feel to it as well.
“If AEW knowingly and intentionally is writing and producing their show to appeal to that 10% of the audience that makes 90% of the noise and it’s working for them, go forth and f***ing prosper folks. Keep doing what you’re doing if that’s your goal and it’s working. If you’re growing your audience by doing what you’re doing, continue to grow your audience.
Bishoff then talked about how AEW has a big too much of an indie feel but there’s a lot of things on the show that he really enjoys.
“I personally feel that the show does cater to the smallest but loudest percentage of the audience and does have a little bit too much of an indie feel to it. It’s not a criticism, it’s a distinction. There’s nothing wrong with Indie wrestling, there’s a lot of it that I really really enjoy.”
AEW will continue to change up its product and will listen to fan input. We will have to see whether the product will improve or not.
