AEW has featured the appearance of Mike Tyson and he has proven to be a great draw for the most part. All of his appearances involved Chris Jericho and it seems Jericho is certainly interested in working with him properly.
Tyson was originally going to face off against Jericho at All Out 2020, but that no longer took place due to issues with scheduling. While speaking to New York Post, Chris Jericho was asked what AEW has planned for Mike Tyson’s in-ring debut in AEW.
Jericho stated that he would have loved to wrestle him, but that isn’t possible anymore as Jericho is now a babyface. Jericho added that he would love to have a tag team match with Mike Tyson.
He then added that a match with Tyson will only take place as long as there is a storyline significance to it.
“I’d love to have a match with Mike, but the dynamic has switched. You don’t want Mike coming in as a bad guy. That’s hard to do, he’s Mike Tyson and Jericho is a good guy, so we can’t really work with each other. So maybe we can do a tag team against somebody else. I’m not sure. I think Mike has a lot of trust in me as well. I don’t want to put words in his mouth.”
The answer is always yes, and the answer is you can always make it work as long as you tell the right story. We’d like to ensure that the storyline fits the match, not just, ‘Oh, Tyson’s available, let’s shoehorn a match in there.’”
We will have to see when Mike Tyson will make his AEW in-ring debut. Before that, Jericho will be partaking in the Blood & Guts match on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite as the Inner Circle takes on The Pinnacle
