In the main event of Night One of WrestleMania 37, Sasha Banks put her Smackdown Women’s Championship on the line against Bianca Belair. The historic main event saw both Superstars put on an incredible performance in front of the live audience in attendance. Belair would go on to win the match and become the new champion.

In the beginning of the match, Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks shared an emotional moment together as they were crying in the ring and taking in the experience of it all.

While speaking to Boston Wrestling MWF’s Dan Mirade, John Cena Sr. discussed the historic main event match. He stated that the emotional scenes were not real and that Belair and Banks were instructed to cry in the match.

“I’m going right back to where the fault belongs: W-R-I-T-E-R-S. Who wrote that session for those young ladies to come in and start crying? Somebody had to write it. No, I don’t believe that [that the crying was real]. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes [Banks and Belair were instructed to cry].”

He further added that the crying in the opening of the match didn’t put any more polish on the show. It is likely many fans would disagree with what John Cena Sr. said as the emotional moments certainly added to the match as a whole.
