Vince McMahon is a legendary pro wrestling promoter who has put together some of the biggest feuds in the history of sports entertainment. He has an ability to “smell money,” and that has been quite useful in the past.
While opening up about McMahon on the Broken Skull Sessions, Steve Austin spoke to Chris Jericho about Vince McMahon’s keen ability to see money in a program. He also explained how McMahon has that ability make something 10 times better than anyone ever thought.
“Vince is the greatest promoter that ever lived. You know how smart that guy is and all of a sudden, he sees dollar signs, and he smells money like he did with you and Shawn. When Vince says, ‘I smell money.’ People are like, ‘What’s that mean?’ We’re talking box office money. He sees money too. When all of a sudden, he books something and it turns into something 10 times better than he even thought, he ain’t gonna say sh*t. He can take all the credit he wants.”
It’s debatable whether Vince McMahon’s skills to “smell money” have dulled over the years. Some fans would certainly argue that the programs WWE is putting together today are nowhere close to those from the past. Nostalgia also has a way of making the past seem fonder, but that didn’t seem to sway The Texas Rattlesnake’s opinion on Vince McMahon’s inherent ability to make money.
