WWE Superstars were a bit worried yesterday that they were going to get a phone call about their release from the company. Ten of those Superstars did receive calls and they lost their jobs with the company.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, John Laurinaitis, who just recently returned to a position with talent relations, was tasked to make those difficult phone calls. The reason he apparently gave everyone blamed budget cuts.
John Laurinaitis was in charge of telling talent they were being let go, and saying it was due to budgetary reasons.
Those recently released WWE Superstars are now under 90-day non-compete clauses. They can sign with another pro wrestling company on July 14th.
It is interesting that WWE cited budget cuts after a year with record profits, but that is the reason they were reportedly giving those Superstars who got very bad news yesterday.
