AEW Dynamite made its debut back in October of 2019 and since then the company has strived to improve its product and be a true alternative to WWE. While they have succeeded in many aspects, there is still a lot of room for improvement. Fans have recently criticized the company for having too many factions.
While being interviewed by Scott Fishman of TV Insider, the Young Bucks defended AEW having so many factions.
Nick Jackson compared AEW to NJPW and stated that it is easier to get “more people involved with different groups instead of having to book them in solo angles, adding that it has clearly worked well.
“New Japan Pro Wrestling has been booking factions for more than 40 years, and they’re still around,” said Nick. “I see the argument, but I think North American fans have never seen this many at one time. They are used to one, two, or three stables in a company.
“It’s easier to book angles. It’s easy to get more people involved with different groups. If you’re not aligned in a stable, you’re alone, and that’s hard to book sometimes. That’s why we have a lot of factions. It has clearly worked.”
It is unlikely the number of factions in AEW will reduce anytime soon. The Young Bucks were successful in defending their AEW World Titles against Rey Fenix and PAC on last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite. We will have to see who their next challengers will be.
