WWE Made Late Call About WrestleMania Title Change

WWE had a lot of things going around backstage before WrestleMania and one big plan was changed around prior to the show. According to Fightful Select, Matt Riddle was originally set to retain the United States Title.

It was reported that WWE made a decision to put the U.S. Title on Sheamus and continue his feud with Riddle. For some reason Riddle was squashed by Bobby Lashley on RAW and Sheamus wasn’t seen at all.

Originally Riddle was supposed to retain his WWE United States Championship at the show, but it was adjusted in favor of continuing the feud with Sheamus, tentatively.

We’ll have to see what’s next for Riddle and Sheamus, but it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see them circle back around to those two. WrestleMania Backlash only has one match booked for it so far, and it is a WrestleMania rematch. Perhaps Riddle vs Sheamus will be added to the card as well.
