The Wednesday Night Wars between AEW and NXT began in October of 2019 and for the majority of its duration, AEW Dynamite would come out on top in their weekly encounters. The Wars ended this week as NXT aired on Tuesday and will continue to do so from now on.

While being interviewed by Alfred Konuwa of Forbes, Chris Jericho talked about the Wednesday Night Wars. Jericho thinks that AEW never straying from its original vision and not caring what NXT did is what ultimately helped AEW win the Wednesday Night Wars.

Jericho added that they wanted to drive NXT screaming and yelling away from Wednesdays and they did just that.

“We’ve never really worried about what NXT was doing,” said Jericho. “I know WWE NXT was watching our stuff during their show, but this was not a war that we were ever asking for. We were kind of thrust into it by proxy.

“The reason why we won it and won it so handily is we never worried about what anybody else was doing. We just worried about our own show. Of course we’re competitive. Yes, we wanted to beat NXT. We wanted to drive them screaming and yelling away from Wednesdays and we did that.”

Chris Jericho is certainly proud of what AEW has accomplished and he will continue to help steer the company in the right direction. We will have to see what the company has planned to further improve its product.
