WWE was forced to vacate the NXT Tag Team Titles when Danny Burch suffered a separated shoulder. That caused Oney Lorcan and Burch to lose their titles and spots at TakeOver. Now the black and gold brand has new Tag Team Champions.

MSK vs Grizzled Young Veterans vs Legado De Fantasma was set for night one of TakeOver to determine new NXT Tag Team Champions.
In the end, MSK won the NXT Tag Team Titles to become champions. This was a long ride for the two former Rascalz from Impact Wrestling.
