Roman Reigns’ return to WWE after his long hiatus in 2020 also saw him make a jump to the heel side of the roster. That was a long time coming.
While speaking to People Magazine, Roman Reigns opened up about his new heel persona and how good it feels to cut loose. Everyone wants to be Superman, but there is only one Roman Reigns.
“It feels good. There’s a lot of truth to what we put into the Tribal Chief character, the burden of the crown, of being the face of the company. I think everybody would like to be Superman, but to be able to have some of those Superman qualities, then also display the emotions, the mentality that comes into it, and the way it can affect a man. People connect to that. People understand the struggle, people understand these different battles, these emotional battles that my character kind of displays on a weekly basis. I think it allows for a different connection, and that’s why it’s been received so well.”
Roman Reigns is set to defend the Universal Title against Daniel Bryan and Edge at WrestleMania 37. That will be a very interesting match as the Tribal Chief is currently the underdog in the betting odds. Either way, Roman Reigns is having a great time fighting those battles and telling his stories.
