WWE Files Trademark On New Match Concept

WWE is locking down another name to make sure that only they can use it. This time they have filed a trademark for a new match idea.

NXT will determine a new #1 contender for the North American Title via a Gauntlet Eliminator match. The company filed a trademark on that match idea name on March 24th according to Heel By Nature. It was entered into the USPTO database on March 27th.

This trademark was filed under the entertainment services category and they used the wording typically associated with pro wrestling events. WWE first used this match concept last September.

WWE will hold a Gauntlet Eliminator match during the first night of NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. The winner will then face Johnny Gargano for the NXT North American Title during the second night of the event. They will hold a battle royal during NXT next week to determine who gets in that Gauntlet Eliminator match.
