Tyson Fury Reveals Cancelled WWE Plans

Tyson Fury’s time in WWE is limited to a Saudi Arabia event right now, but there were way more plans for the world champion boxer.

Behind The Gloves recently spoke to Fury where he revealed that SummerSlam and WrestleMania plans had to be nixed last year. The company also had to cancel a big UK match between Fury and Drew McIntyre. Then the COVID-19 pandemic caused a stop to that.

“I was supposed to go to SummerSlam last year and I was supposed to go to WrestleMania last year, and I was also supposed to fight Drew McIntyre in a pay-per-view event in the UK. But none of that happened thanks to COVID.”

“So COVID’s cost me SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, pay-per-view with Drew McIntyre, the [Deontay] Wilder rematch, and the [Anthony] Joshua fight, so thank you, COVID. And I was supposed to meet the President of the Unites States, Donald Trump. I was supposed to meet the Pope of Rome, among other things, so it’s cost me a lot. It’s one of them things.”

COVID-19 certainly threw a curveball at Tyson Fury in 2020.

We’ll have to see if Tyson Fury makes it back to WWE after he is permitted to travel freely once again. The COVID-19 pandemic ruined a bunch of plans in 2020. It’s interesting to know that Fury and WWE had three more appearances planned that needed to be cancelled. Hopefully, they can get those dates back sooner than later.
