The Rock was a part of many great moments in WWE history. Some fans will never forget the night that the Great One came back to support Eugene. Nick Dinsmore, the man behind the Eugene character, will certainly never forget it.
While talking to Talk Is Jericho, Dinsmore discussed that famous segment where The Rock returned after being gone for so long. He popped in just to have Eugene’s back, and the fans ate it up. The segment also ran a bit long, but The Rock didn’t pay it any mind. He knew how good the segment was.
“Coach, we had a big match. That’s when The Rock came back when coach yelled at me and told me to leave. ‘Eugene get out of here. Nobody wants to see you.’ I go all the way back down almost past the curtain, and I’m literally crying. Rock’s music hits. He hadn’t been on TV in two years.”
“We were in San Diego. Nobody knew he was there and the people popped, but I think they almost felt like it’s going to be a joke. Then he came to the curtain, and it’s a big huge one. And he’d get to the ring, and I think it was slated for 11 minutes or something. We were on 17 minutes. We got to the back, and Coach is like, ‘What are we gonna do?’ He goes, ‘Don’t worry, it’s good.’”
We’re still waiting on The Rock’s return to WWE television. He doesn’t come around very often, but he hasn’t left the pro wrestling world. If anything, his new Young Rock show is proof that his ties to the pro wrestling business will never go away.
