WWE Had Zero Intention Of Keeping Popular Indie Tag Team Together

WWE has many people on their roster who used to work with each other on the indies. The company will tell their own stories with any talent they sign, and that means they don’t carry on with some former ideas that were brought into the company. This was the case for Cesaro and Chris Hero’s “Kings Of Wrestling” tag team.

While speaking to Inside The Ropes, Chris Hero revealed that when WWE signed himself and Cesaro to contracts, it was made very clear that there was no intention of carrying on their popular tag team from the indies.

“No, there was not. When Cesaro and I had our tryout and Triple H pulled us aside and he kind of gave us an idea that they would be offering us a contract, one of the first things he said was, ‘This is not to bring you guys in as a team. This is to bring you guys in separately and develop you separately. Whatever happens down the road happens but this is not, hey, you guys are being signed as a team.’ So I never had any thoughts or hopes that somebody would see something. Cesaro also got maybe like a five-month head start down in FCW. So by the time I got in and was doing stuff, he was getting ready to go up to the main roster, so I did not spend a lot of time in developmental with him.”

Cesaro is now in a great spot as he looks on toward the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view this Sunday. Chris Hero was released from WWE on April 15th, and he has yet to reemerge with any other company. Cesaro’s new WWE contract also means he will be stick around for much longer. You can never say never about a Kings Of Wrestling reunion in the future, but it’s not likely to happen in WWE.
