AEW President Tony Khan had zero experience as a booker for pro wrestling shows prior to AEW.

While speaking on the Wrestling Fetish podcast, Tony Khan discussed the ongoing partnership between AEW and NJPW. During the podcast, Khan also addressed to the criticism meted out against his booking and lack of experience by Konan on his Keepin it Real podcast.

Tony Khan said that he found it amusing Konnan was insulting his booking.

Khan then went on to talk about the feud between The Young Bucks and The Lucha Brothers in 2019, which also featured a match at AAA’s Rey de Reyes event. It was also the first time AEW worked with another pro wrestling promotion.

Khan said that if he himself doesn’t know what Khan is doing, then Konnan can’t know either.

“If I recall, the biggest money angle you had that entire year, I booked. I put that entire Lucha Brothers / Young Bucks program together, and sent the whole outline to you, which I still have on my phone. That was your biggest TV show in 2019. So, if I don’t know what I’m doing, you don’t either.”

Jim Ross had earlier praised Tony Khan as a rookie booker, stating that he is certainly improving.
