Rey Mysterio is a true veteran in the world of professional wrestling and he is proud of his luchador heritage and legacy. As is the custom for luchadors, they are to wear a mask, but Rey Mysterio’s son Dominik Mysterio hasn’t done that when he started being an active in-ring competitor.
While speaking on the Not About Wrestling podcast, Rey Mysterio talked about his ring gear, notably his mask. Mysterio was then asked if there were any plans to have Dominik wear a mask as well.
Mysterio added that there are currently no plans for him to wear a mask, but then added that he would love to incorporate a mask somehow so that the legacy may continue.
“Yes, as a matter of fact there was. The only issue was that he was getting so much promotion without the mask, prior to him starting to wrestle. When I did my storyline with Samoa Joe with Brock and we just felt maybe it might be a little too late to mask him now. We’ve talked about it. We would love to incorporate the mask somehow someway, so the legacy continues. Even if they know his face already. We can start a trend where Dominick is outside the ring and Dominick Mysterio is inside the ring.”
Mysterio’s suggestion that Dominik would have two different personas, one outside the ring and one inside is certainly interesting. We will have to see how WWE will execute the idea, should they decided to do it.
