WWE held the 2021 Royal Rumble pay-per-view, and Murphy was not seen. He was apparently slated as an alternate in that match, but he wasn’t used.

According to Fightful Select, Buddy Murphy was slated as a Royal Rumble alternate. He wasn’t brought into the match. Cedric Alexander was also a Royal Rumble alternate, but he wasn’t used either.

As Ringside News exclusively reported, Murphy has been backstage at WWE SmackDown, but he hasn’t been used. WWE has nothing for him, and it was also reported that the company nixed a plan to use him when Steve Cutler was fired.

WWE hasn’t used Murphy since Seth Rollins’ hiatus started. We will keep an eye out for Murphy since The Messiah will be back on the blue brand this week.
