WWE Hall Of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin’s feud with The Rock has been heralded one of the best rivalries in all of pro wrestling. The two have defined an entire generation of pro wrestling and cemented their legacies as two of the all-time great.
Austin’s career came to an end at WrestleMania 19, where he faced The Rock for the third time. While speaking on WWE’s The Bump, Austin talked about his WrestleMania 19 match against The Rock.
Austin said that almost no one was aware it was going to be his last match. He said that only The Rock and a few people in management were aware of the fact.
“Nobody really knew this was going to be my last match; The Rock knew, and a couple of guys in management knew. I was going to go ride off into the sunset,” he stated. “I defeated The Rock two times prior at WrestleMania, and at WrestleMania 17, we rocked the house…I thought the match was good, but it could have been better.
“I love The Rock. Right there, that part in the ring, he pushes Earl Hebner out of the way and says, ‘Hey man, I appreciate everything you did for. I just want you to know that I love you.’ I’m laying there with my eyes closed, and I said, ‘I love you, too.’ He meant it, and I meant it. Like we both said, we bring out the best in each other.”
Steve Austin is currently busy with his personal projects such as the Straight Up With Steve Austin show. The Rock is also busy with his career in Hollywood.
