Since its inception in 2019, AEW has been touted as the definitive alternative to WWE and has also been doing well in the Wednesday Night Wars against NXT.
During its run since 2019, AEW has managed to produce its own original talents who have gotten over organically with fans. The likes of the Jurassic Express and Orange Cassidy are certainly noteworthy.
While speaking on the Grilling JR Podcast, current AEW commentator Jim Ross discussed the current roster of talents in AEW. Ross noted that AEW has been around for only a little over a year and if anyone thinks that is enough time to make someone a major star, then they are doing too much fantasy booking.
He also noted that some of the AEW originals have started getting over.
“The talent roster, we’re starting to get some of the AEW originals over. We’ve only been here a year, anybody who thinks you can get over and be a big major star in under a year probably you’re doing too much fantasy booking. It just doesn’t work that way and it takes more time. We’re only on T.V. two hours a week.”
It is likely AEW will continue to build their talents and more stars will be produced in good time. Ross would certainly agree that good things take time.
