Papa Shango created nightmares for WWE fans, but then he went away. There was apparently a plan for him to re-emerge, but then WWE changed those plans as they are likely to do.
Scheduled for Two Falls recently spoke to The Godfather about his run in WWE. He took a moment to speak about how Ahmed Johnson wouldn’t listen to their advice either.
The Godfather was Kama Mustafa in the Nation of Domination, but that role was apparently sprung on him. He revealed that when that debut with the Nation of Domination happened, he was under the impression that Papa Shango would be making a return instead.
“So, for some reason WWE convinced me to come back as Papa Shango, but it was going to be a lot different. I showed up to the television taping and they said Vince McMahon wanted to talk to me. I was like ‘cool.'”
“So I went into Vince and he said, “Charles, change of plans. Tonight we’re going to put you in the Nation of Domination. You’re going to wrestle with Ron Simmons against the Undertaker in a handicap match — and you are going to go over. We made you a little outfit. So why don’t you get with Mark and Ron and work something out and we’ll talk later'”
What happened next will live on in WWE history, but Papa Shango never made his return as planned. It makes us wonder what WWE had in store for their voodoo inspired character if he did make a return to the squared circle.
