Trish Stratus made many memories in the ring, but she is very glad that fans don’t remember one botch that happened as she made her entrance before her “retirement match” in 2006.

Of course, Trish Stratus came back to WWE, so that 2006 retirement is void. She still slipped and took a tumble in the Air Canada Center while making her way to the ring.

The Wilde On podcast recently spoke to Stratus and she opened up about this tumble. She won the WWE Women’s Title from Lita at Unforgiven in 2006, but that title was vacated the next night on September 18th. Luckily, nobody remembers that fall.

“At my epic retirement match, I was at the Air Canada Centre in front of a hometown crowd. The crowd was going crazy for me. It was my final moment. I was walking down the ramp to the ring, I go up the stairs — and then I tumble.”

“I didn’t tumble off the ramp and I’m like ‘okay, I’m fine.’ Why do we do that when we tumble? We’re like ‘I’m good, who saw that? Who didn’t see it?’ [laughs] Thanks to WWE, it is maybe erased from some fans’ memories. I went on to have a great match [with Lita]. Hopefully, they remember that part instead.”

Trish Stratus did wrestle again for WWE, so that retirement match wasn’t her last. Odds are she watched her step a little bit more each time she made her way to the ring after that embarrassing tumble.
