Powerhouse Hobbs appeared on AEW television, and he immediately made people pay attention to his size and ability. He was soon signed to a contract as Tony Khan realized the potential of the big man.
While speaking to AEW Unrestricted, Hobbs revealed how he ended up in AEW. At first, he thought that someone was playing a joke on him. Then he realized that QT Marshall was really contacting him about a spot on television. This caused Will Hobbs to change his mindset about the situation and figure out a way to Jacksonville.
“So I got a text from Markus Mac, who owns All Pro Wrestling out here in California, said he had threw my name out there. Didn’t say anything more of it and then probably two hours later, I get a text from QT Marshall. I thought somebody was ribbing me. So I looked at my phone. I just threw my phone down for a few hours.
“I’m like, okay, we got a pandemic going on. Somebody’s probably f–king with me. I finally responded, and QT said, ‘Hey, are you local?’ And I said, ‘No, but I’ll find a way out there.’ Found the date, hustled up some money, got a plane ticket, got a hotel and was on my way to Jacksonville.”
It’s a good thing that Hobbs answered QT Marshall’s text because Team Tazz would be a much different stable if it hadn’t. The future seems bright for Powerhouse Hobbs in AEW, and that is no joke at all.
