Last night at UFC 257 on Fight Island, former Bellator star Michael Chandler introduced himself to the UFC audience with an emphatic knockout victory over Dan Hooker.
It was the kind of win that really puts a new acquisition like Chandler on the map, but you could argue his post-fight promo was even better.
Why? Because he cut a promo inspired by the one and only Ric Flair.
“Conor McGregor! Surprise, surprise! There is a new king in the lightweight division. Dustin Poirier, your time is coming. Khabib! If you ever do see fit, then grace us with your presence back here in the UFC octagon in your quest for 30. You know you got to beat somebody, so beat me if you can. God bless, see you at the top.”
Chandler borrowed from Flair’s iconic 1992 Royal Rumble speech by saying “this is the greatest moment in my professional life”, later going on to say that it was Daniel Cormier and Ariel Helwani who inspired him to imitate the great Flair’s speech.
