NBC Sports Network is shutting down. No hard date was set. A company memo was sent out to inform staff that they are pulling the plug, and it is happening in 2021. The sports that air on the network will be split among other NBC/Universal properties, including USA Network.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer broke down this new situation. NASCAR won’t conflict with WWE programming because they air races on the weekends. Soccer also won’t go against WWE because a majority of those games are in the morning and afternoon. The NHL is obviously an issue.

We previously reported on how the NHL’s Wednesday double-headers could cause USA Network to move NXT. The NHL’s championship tournament could also cause trouble for RAW.

It was noted that since the Stanley Cup Playoffs have so many games, and some of them are on Monday, then it might cause USA Network to make a tough decision. It is unknown what will go down when that happens, but it seems inevitable at this point.

WWE RAW won’t need to leave Mondays for good. That is their established day as the longest running weekly episodic television program in history. They have been preempted before with the Westminster Dog Show. Perhaps the NHL will cause them some headaches in the future as well.
