AEW’s Celebration of Life for Brodie Lee was a very special night where they honored a man who we all lost far too soon. His old friend Erick Redbeard was able to be at the show, but it wasn’t Tony Khan’s idea.

While speaking to Oral Sessions, Tony Khan revealed that Shawn Spears was the one who suggested that AEW bring in Erick Rowan. Khan was very receptive to the idea and they were able to work him into the night.

“That was Spears’ idea, yeah that was Spears’ idea. The day before he asked if I wanted to use Erick Redbeard. I said, would like to have him, that’s a great idea. I would probably have him come out in the middle of the show and do the thing with the Dark Order and Hangman there and then have Amanda and Brodie Lee Jr. at the end, and that’s why we did it that way.”

There are no reported plans to bring Erick Redbeard into AEW in any other capacity. You can also never say never in pro wrestling. His first appearance in AEW was one that nobody will ever forget.
