AEW’s upcoming console video game has a lot of fans very excited. They might not have all of the stars on the roster when the game is released, but there will be regular updates. It is also not guaranteed that the game will come out this year.
While speaking to IGN Japan, Kenny Omega confirmed that there are plans to expand the available game roster as time goes on. AEW’s roster is always evolving, and their upcoming video game will reflect that idea.
“I can say right now that we’re not sure of how many wrestlers will be available upon release, but one thing I can say is that the number of wrestlers in the AEW is growing all the time, and the roster of wrestlers in the game will reflect that. There will be a campaign, and various other unusual modes, and you will be able to edit your own wrestler, too.”
AEW Games is aiming for a 2021 release, but that is not set in stone. Kenny Omega also said that he doesn’t want to rush the company’s first video game. It will be ready when it is ready.
“I don’t want to rush it, so I don’t want to make a promise [about the release date]. I want the release version to be good.”
WWE did not put out a traditional release last year, and that left a hole in the wrestling video game market. Fans are eager to see what AEW and Yuke’s come up with, but it is a process that cannot be rushed.
