As seen on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Shinsuke Nakamura had a tremendous showing in the #1 contender’s Gauntlet match. Nakamura overcame three opponents, namely Rey Mysterio, King Corbin, and Daniel Bryan in the match. However, Roman Reigns and Jey Uso came out during the match and destroyed Nakamura, which resulted in Adam Pearce pinning him for the win.
Adam Pearce will now challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Title at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Nakamura is certainly looking to get revenge on Uso and Reigns and it seems he will be getting just that.
On Today’s episode of Talking Smack, it was officially announced that The King Of Strong Style will square off against Jey Uso in their first-ever singles match together on next week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown.
Nakamura and Uso had previously competed in the ring during tag team matches; most notably during the fatal four-way Smackdown Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania 35, where Nakamura teamed up with Rusev.
We will have to see if Nakamura will be able to defeat Jey Uso in singles competition. It is likely Roman Reigns will be involved in the match, one way or the other.
